Gentle days as we head into a change of season. Back to school for some, a new term, a new job or a time for a new routine. This time of year always feels hopeful to me as we head into the most abundant time for ingredients in my kitchen. It is raining in Bordeaux which has cleared the humid and hot air. The falling rain feels like it is welcoming in Autumn as if to say hello, I am here now.
Summer has drifted on and unpacking continues day by day. Boxes, there is still a mountain of boxes that I have not unpacked even though everyday I am finding a place for things. One room that is coming together is my kitchen. Small yet beautiful, this room for me is beginning to feel like a practical, yet calming space where I love to cook. Radio on.
So we had our first supper party on Saturday for our french friends in our new house. I love entertaining, I always have, it just makes me feel completely whole as a person. I think that is what I love most about restaurants, it is like having a new lunch/supper party everyday. I love the planning and preparation and the way it brings people together.
It was a triumph. The buzz of soft french accents, laughter, franglais (always) good food and wine. A real moment. Encroyable!
