Celebrating British knits, silver darlings, two seasonal fish recipes & festival love
Summer time vibes
Hello to you! I was reminded very kindly by Substack yesterday that Shore to Shore is a *Bestseller* how cool is that and I have access to some exciting features (to be discovered). I love sitting down at my kitchen table and writing to you each week it is so wonderful and I am so happy you are here with me. A place away from the noise and algorithms. I would love to know what you cooking as we head into Summer and what makes your heart sing. Please feel free to comment below or send me an email.
To me this time of year feels gentler, sweeter, the lighter days of this time of the year are wonderful. The produce is delicious from strawberries, raspberries, peaches, apricots, nectarines, courgettes, crab and lobster among the finest. Wonderful fragrant herbs tarragon, basil and chervil. Watercress, rocket and the prettiest edible flowers. Pack a picnic and escape to the seaside. Grilled artichokes, fennel, salads and mackerel couscous all travel well, plump cherries and luscious peaches are so delicious, or stay closer to home and create a lovely supper for friends and family. To cook in the summer months is just so special.
This week I bring you two fish recipes one whole baked mackerel recipe with a salad of courgettes and nasturtium flowers and a warm salad of herring, new potatoes, crème fraîche, apples and green herbs (tinned fish is all the rage), once you discover this wonderful world you will not look back.
I am also introducing you to Frankie, founder of Charl Knitwear who has been designing knitwear for top luxury brands and smaller independent labels for more than 20 years. For me food and fashion is so interconnected and I am so excited to be collaborating with Frankie. To find out more upgrade and become part of my *paid community* Ex
